'I opened the door and he climbed right up and inside': 6-week-old orange kitten cries outside the right home and adopts himself a human

Imagine finishing dinner, hearing a tiny cry outside, and ending the night with a six-week-old kitten attached to your neck.

That's pretty much how Zenzero showed up. His new human heard a little cry outside after dinner but didn't think much of it at first. Then it came again, only louder and more consistent this time. Eventually, there was clearly a very small someone outside demanding to be noticed.

As soon as the door opened, Zenzero took his chance. The tiny orange kitten climbed right up and made his way inside. Apparently, all he needed was someone to open the door.

A trip to the pet store quickly followed, because you can't exactly have a surprise kitten move in without picking up a few supplies. He was given the name Zenzero, Italian for "ginger," which suits this tiny orange guy pretty well.

His new human thinks he's around six weeks old, and he already has a vet appointment scheduled in a couple of days. Zenzero seems much more interested in his human than any upcoming appointments, though. He's taken to hanging out on their neck and apparently isn't too eager to come down. For a kitten who only just arrived, he's gotten comfortable remarkably fast.

The resident ladies of the house are having a slightly harder time adjusting. They're apparently terrified of their new roommate, which is pretty impressive considering said roommate is a teeny orange kitten. Hopefully, with some time and careful introductions, they'll decide he isn't so scary after all. Maybe he'll even have a couple of new cuddle buddies soon.

Zenzero really didn't waste any time getting himself settled. He cried outside the right door, climbed inside the second it opened, got a pet store haul, earned himself a name, and found his favorite spot on his new human.

Not bad for one little kitten's evening.

At this point, we’re pretty sure you didn’t adopt Zenzero. Zenzero adopted you. He showed up outside, made sure you heard him, waited for the door to open, and then walked right into his new home. There wasn’t exactly much room for discussion there. He had already made his decision, and you were apparently the lucky human he picked. The Cat Distribution System really does let the cats handle all the paperwork themselves.

Opening the door and having a tiny kitten climb right inside honestly sounds like the dream. No searching, no planning, just one little orange guy showing up and deciding he lives with you now. We’d be making that pet store run too, because how are you supposed to say no to a face like that? If the Cat Distribution System is taking requests, we’d like to officially put our names on the list for a surprise kitten delivery of our own.

Forget the house, Zenzero has already decided he’s just going to live on his new human’s shoulder. Why bother finding a favorite bed or cozy spot on the couch when you can stay attached to your person at all times? He may have only just moved in, but he’s clearly figured out exactly where he wants to be. Hopefully his new human wasn’t planning on getting much done, because it looks like they’ve got a tiny orange passenger coming everywhere with them.
